The Granite and Sink Have Arrived !

Oh what a joy !  Running water and a dish washer that is working again after 2 1/2 weeks.  No more carrying a tray of dishes down to the basement to wash ... and to bring last night's dishes back upstairs.

AND

A real kitchen 'bar' to sit at.  We are about 80% of the way there!  We still have the tile for the backsplash and the knobs for the cabinets to go.  And there is still some last minute painting and touch ups ... but life is starting to get back to normal. 

HURRAY!

Tuesday, 2/21/12

Well ... Bryan has done a great job with the wood trim.  Notice the chair rail and the wood accents.  The upper part of the wall is painted with a warm yellow and the base is a oyster shell white.

Tomorrow the granite comes ... we are excited !

Start of Week 3

Well ... this is the big week!

Bryan (our neighbor and contractor) starts to do the painting ... we will have a light off white bottom (including the chair rail) and a warm light yellow tint upper part.  Bryan will also be doing some wood 'effect' on the lower part with framing (painted the same color as the bottom).

Wednesday the granite people come in and install the counter tops; then the sink and faucet get installed;   Thursday Bryan will be putting in the backsplash (which will be a yellowish tile pattern).

We should be up and running by the weekend ... with Bryan doing final touch-ups on Monday. 

We are seeing the LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL !!!

Kitchen Update

Here it is ... Week 2 / Day 3


We are going to select the granite tomorrow morning.


Next Wednesday they will take the pattern and start cutting the granite.


It is mighty frustrating trying to work around the inconvenience of no running water and no sink ... But will be worthwhile in the long run.

Kitchen Remodeling Has Started

Well,it has started!  Out kitchen has been torn apart and now it is slowly getting put back together.

Here is how it started out ...

We now have to pick paint colors ...

It is an exciting time to see it taking shape
